Who we Are

The Technology Center was established in June of 1997 by Dr. Charlotte Wolf when she presented a proposal to Dr. Robert Zeigler, who was president at that time, the Deans, and Directors who approved the proposal unanimously. Dr. Wolf, working with Les Germer, Pearl English, and others, recognized the need to coordinate initiatives and information related to technology on the San Antonio College campus. The Technology Center functions in conjunction with the College Technology Committee and provides the technical expertise necessary to implement the College Technology Plan. This Center provides an official location to centralize information related to campus technology initiatives, network maintenance, training, and provides coordination of our activities with other organizations in the Alamo Community College District. The function of this Center is intended to supplement and coordinate technology, not reduce resources within departments.

The Technology Center provides the option for additional technical support for all campus units, academic and administrative. Les Germer was transferred from the English Department Lab to the Technology Center in June of 1998 to serve as the Campus-wide Network Administrator in order to provide coordination and planning for all campus networks. Cynthia Price was hired in November of 1998 to establish a Technology Center Help Desk, which provides on-line assistance for faculty, staff, and students on campus. Deborah Monroe was hired as a temporary Technical Support Manager in October of 1998 to coordinate the technical support team until a permanent manager is hired. At this time, most technical support is provided by temporary full and part-time technicians.
